Is your dog suddenly limping or holding up a back leg? We can get them walking again.

A torn knee ligament (the dog version of a torn ACL) is painful and won't heal on its own. We repair it with the proven Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP), so your best friend can run, jump, and play without pain.

Know the Signs

Could your dog have a torn knee ligament?

A torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is one of the most common orthopedic injuries in dogs. If you notice any of these, it's worth getting checked.

Sudden limping

A limp that appears out of nowhere, often after running or jumping.

Holding up a back leg

"Toe-touching" or carrying one hind leg instead of bearing weight on it.

Trouble getting up

Stiffness or hesitation when rising, sitting, or climbing stairs.

A "click" when walking

A clicking or popping sound from the knee as your dog moves.

The Surgery

What is the Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP)?

The cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) is the main stabilizer of your dog's knee, much like the ACL in people. When it tears, the knee becomes loose and painful and can lead to arthritis over time. The MMP is a proven way to repair it.

1

Stabilize the knee

Instead of replacing the torn ligament, the MMP changes how force moves through the knee so it stays stable when your dog bears weight.

2

A proven, less-invasive approach

The procedure gently repositions part of the shin bone so the strong thigh muscles do the work the ligament used to do.

3

Back to a happy, active life

Most dogs begin using the leg soon after surgery and return to comfortable walking and play with a guided recovery plan.

What Metro Detroit pet parents say

Real stories from families whose dogs are back to running and playing.

★★★★★

"The vets and techs here are absolutely wonderful! Our pup Sasha had to have ligament surgery on her right hind leg. I researched several options across the state and drove 2 hours each way for Sasha's MMP surgery. MMP is an alternative to TPLO, and Sasha had a speedier, less complicated recovery as a result. We couldn't be more pleased!"

"My dog needed ACL surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Sweeton was absolutely wonderful, so compassionate and caring. Mack is recovering very, very well. I'm so glad we found such a wonderful place. I would highly recommend Warren Animal Clinic."

"Kippa tore her CCL a couple of months ago. We called around and found this amazing place. Not only did they see her the following week, they were wonderful and kind, and Kippa LOVED them! They went above and beyond, we were so relieved. They are the only place we will ever take our fur baby to again."
